Teacher of The Year

The Rotary Club of Snow Hill hosts an annual banquet to recognize the outstanding service of teachers from the five public schools in the Snow Hill area. The first banquet was held in 2009.

The honorees are those designated by the Maryland Teacher of the Year program for Snow Hill Elementary School, Snow Hill Middle School, Cedar Chapel Special School, Snow Hill High School, and Worcester County Technical High School. The selection process is conducted by the Maryland State Superintendent of Schools in collaboration with school systems across the state.

The Rotary Club of Snow Hill supports education by awarding scholarships to Snow Hill area graduates, recognizing outstanding teachers, donating books to libraries, and sponsoring peer leadership training for high school students.

Those honored at a virtual Snow Hill Rotary ceremony in June of 2021 were: Mia Byrd, Snow Hill Elementary School; Cara Kurtz, Snow Hill Middle School; Stacey Russell, Cedar Chapel Special School; Nicholas Traud, Snow Hill High School; and Aarti Sangwan, Worcester County Technical High School. Ms. Sangwan is also the 2021 Worcester County Teacher of the Year and will be considered for the Maryland Teacher of the Year honors to be announced in October.
