John Nanni – PolioPlus

(April 2, 2024) John Nanni, who chairs the Rotary District 7630 PolioPlus Committee, spoke at the April 2 meeting of the Rotary Club of Snow Hill. John is a long-time member of the Rotary Club of Middletown-Odessa-Townsend based in Middletown, Delaware. He has traveled the world speaking about the Rotary International PolioPlus project that is dedicated to eradicating polio.

 

Rotary International joined the fight to against polio in 1979. Steady progress has been made over the years. In 2023, there were only 12 cases of wild polio reported. Thus far in 2024, there have only been 3 cases.

 

The “Plus” refers to the many added health benefits of Rotary work to eradicate polio including providing access to potable water, additional medical treatment, bed nets, or soap.
